The Faces Behind the Lens

Meet Abigail

Jesus lover. Creative. Homeschooled kid. Former collegiate volleyball player.

My photography journey started in middle school, when my parents bought me my very first camera… a bright teal Canon PowerShot (iykyk). From there, I had the opportunity to take an online photography class my freshman year of high school and never stopped loving the artistry of freezing moments.

Creativity has almost always been my thing. Of course photography is one of the mediums I express creativity through, but I also love painting, crocheting, baking, embroidery, you name it. If it involves creating something with my hands and mind, I’m in!

Outside of shooting and making, you'll find me curled up with a good book, finding ways to be active, enjoying the beach, or hanging with my husband.

Some fun facts:

  • I played violin for eight years (one of the most homeschooled things about me).

  • My big sister once cut my toddler eyelashes because she found them too long

  • I have a stick and poke tattoo, done by yours truly. Yes, it was intentional, and yes I have no regrets.

Meet Richard

Lover of people and God’s creation. Church media guy. Vintage car admirer.

I first picked up a “real” camera while working with a missions organization where I had the opportunity to travel and capture the places and people around me while doing so. Somewhere between the shutter clicks, I fell in love with the art of it. Since then, I’ve explored many different mediums of photography including wet plate, wooden cameras, various film formats, and using the oldest and weirdest-as-possible lenses on my digital camera.

By day, I’m the Media Director at our church, and your most unassuming photographer by golden hour evenings. You’ll usually find me in the background of each shoot, aiming to capture the artsy, visually stunning shots you didn't know you needed.

When I’m not behind a lens, I’m probably working on recording and producing music, watching the Office, playing Pikmin with my wife, or outside admiring the light filtering through the trees.

Some fun facts

  • I once built my own camera out of a cigar box, scrap wood, and cardboard, yes it worked! (although you won’t find me using it on a paid shoot)

  • My baby is a 1992 Subaru Legacy station wagon. I love it so much that I once bought back from the person I had sold it to a couple years prior.

  • I know what I like when it comes to food. Before getting married, I would eat the same meals over and over without ever tiring of them. This was best illustrated by the time I ate fish so many consecutive days that I got mercury poisoning. Whoops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
